Beginning/Intermediate Oil Painting with Joe D'Agnillo

Oils:  A Limited palette:

Titanium White - 150 ml Tube

37 ml tubes of Windsor Newton or equivalent oil( not student grade)

Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Sao or Viridian Green

Brushes: 3 or 4 brushes ranging in size from no.4 to 12, flat, bristle

3 or 4 mongoose or sable flat, size 6 to 16

1 size round sable or mongoose

Note: Don't spend too much on brushes, and long handles are best

Well made palette knife, 3 inch long triangle blade, for painting and mixing.  Wood handle.

Palette: if you have one that is fine, if not I recommend a table palette that has disposable paper sheets 12 x 16

Canvas or Board: 2 or 3 recommended about 12 x 16.  I will provide boards to paint on, however if you have stretched canvas or boards that you would like to use that is acceptable.

Medium & Odorless Thinner will be provided by the instructor.

A French or Table top easel if you have one.  A few easels are available at the center.

A roll of paper towels, small sealable metal or glass container for thinner.  Plastic grocery sacks for trash. Hand mirror about 6 x 8.  An old shirt or apron that you don't mind getting some paint on, to protect your regular clothing.

Bring a subject to paint that you will like- a good photo or magazine subject.  I would suggest not a portrait subject unless you are an advance painter.

Carrier: a study carton, or wheeler carrier that you can pull all materials into including your easel, it is a great way to make transportation of materials less troublesome.  Here again you can improvise, use an old suitcase, etc.
