The Ogden Pioneer Days, and The Eccles Community Art Center's Main Gallery will exhibit works from Western themed  artists during the Ogden Pioneer Days - Traces of the West. This invitational  competition will open Friday, July 7th and continue through Friday, July 29, 2017. A reception for artists, and the public will be held July 7, from 5 to 8 p.m.  Awards for the Traces of the West will be posted at this reception.

The Ogden Pioneer Days - Traces of the West is comprised of recent works with  a Western theme by artist throughout the United States.  This year categories are two -dimension and three dimensional art.  The two dimensional category will include: drawing, painting, photography with the three dimensional category will include sculpture and high end western gear.  Local artists as well as those from Arizona, Montana and Oklahoma are participating.  Artists which have accepted the invitation to exhibit include: Allen Brockbank, Keith Dagley,  Shawn Didyoung, Barbara Summers Edwards, Glen Edwards, Jim Fain, Brent Flory, Bonnie Frucci,  Mike Gardner, Jerry Hancock, George Handrahan, Tim Harmon, HR Kaiser, Cara Koolmees, Elizabeth Robbins, John Steele, Don Weller, Daren Wilding, and  Jeff Wolf.

Ogden Pioneer Days Foundation and the Eccles Community Art Center staff have established an art contest for children ages 5 through 18 years old.  To color, draw, collage, paint, create original art which does not include any copyrighted images. Contestants must present art on surface provided by the Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden which may be picked up during regular business hours July 1, through July 22, 2017. The deadline to return your entry is July 22, 2017 by 5:30 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium, 668 17th Street, Ogden. An entry may be returned prior to this deadline during regular business hours at the Eccles Community Art Center.  For more information:

Children contest winners will be announced July 24, 2017. (Every attempt will be made to notify winner’s parents  prior to the rodeo).  Grand Prize $500, with 4 Honorable mentions of $100. The winning art work will become the property of the Ogden Pioneer Days Foundation, They reserve all rights and privileges to use the winning art work in any publications and advertising.

The  Eccles Community Art Center’s regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The center is closed Sundays and major holidays including July 4th, Independence day, and July 24th, Statehood day. For information, please call 801-392-6935.
