WINTER 2017:

Poetry Workshop for Adults:

This workshop course will allow individuals to work toward writing and polishing one or more original poems. Through the exploration of contemporary poetry, we will investigate what makes a poem valuable to us and how we can craft our own poems to be a reflection of meaningful personal experience. Together we will read contemporary poems regarding a specific theme or topic that will change each week. Students will then be given time in class to begin crafting a poem in that same vein and will be encouraged to continue working on these poems between sessions. In the classes that follow we will read our original poems aloud and hold discussions on how we can make them stronger.

Instructor: Danielle Susi is the author of the chapbook The Month in Which We Are Born (dancing girl press, 2015). Her writing has appeared in Knee-Jerk Magazine, Hobart, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. She received her MFA in writing from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
